    I question the twilight comment.

Omar may be in the twilight of his career, but he has hit over .400 the last two times we have been in the playoffs.

It seems all of our players tend to perform well during the regular season, or the playoffs, but not both.

So some players carry us into the playoffs, then others carry us in the playoffs.

I think Thome, Fryman, Omar and Robbie all have at least two more good seasons in them...perhaps three or four.

As I have said elsewhere...we should Reload, not Rebuild.

The only moves left that I see essential are bringing back Juan, and clearing out Rocker and Cordero.

I'm hoping Milton Bradley and even Jolbert Cabrera give us a decent amount of stolen bases this coming year.

I think Brady Anderson may be reinvigorated playing at Jacobs Field this year.

With Robbie and Eddie Murray here, he may really warm up to Cleveland, and Cleveland to him.

so, is cleveland done making moves or not? i, for one, hope not. i would like to see them sign a guy capable of playing small ball. someone like cedeno would be nice, although with the signing of anderson, that seems out of the question now.

speaking of brady, i think it was a good move by shapiro and co. sure, he isn't juan gonzalez but he came cheap and perhaps playing for a team who has a chance to contend every year will give him the motivation he needs to turn things around. if not that, perhaps knowing he has only a one-year contract will give him a good kick in the pants. it worked in juan's case so why not this? and for anderson, it is even more desperate because if he is a bust this year, at the ripe old age of 38, his career is likely over. i look for good things from anderson.

but still, that doesn't answer my question: what other moves will they make? will they trade alomar or vizquel? part of me hates the idea of that. watching those two play together for the last several years has been an undescribable treat. yet, they are both reaching the twilight of their careers and perhaps it would be best to get something for them while we can. if we can get some future superstars, i think it would be worth trading away those two. i would also like to see finley, cordero, and of course rocker all out of here. maybe even fryman, but i guess he deserves another year to see whether he still has it or not. the fact is, the only vetrans i would not trade are thome and burks. anybody else has to be on the block, IMO. look at the twins, look at the a's. these are teams that did it with young talent, the a's much more so than the twins but you get my point. if we are going to cut payroll, better to spend what we do have on youngsters. at least that way, we can become better over time whereas with the vetrans, they are only going to go downhill from here. if we could trade alomar to the mets for alfonso and escober and then trade vizquel to someone for some pitching, i could live with that. if this team can become younger and still be competitive, i have no problem watching my favorite players leave town.

so what is the general consensus? do you agree with me that since we are cutting payroll, we should try to get younger rather than older? and what moves do you think will be made in the next several months?
